Washing and Bathing

20. Bathing is an integral part of cleanliness, purity and personal hygiene.
"Allah loves those who make themselves pure." (9:108)

Narrated Abu Huraira: "The Prophet said, "Subhan Allah! A believer never becomes impure." (Sahih Bukhari)

21. Take a bath, whenever required (e.g. after secretion, intercourse, etc.) but a minimum of once a week. Bear in mind that if you are impure, you should not take a bath in a standing water including bathtubs. First purify yourself in running water or under the shower.

Abu Huraira reported that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "It is the duty of every Muslim to take bath once a week washing therein his head and his body." (Agreed upon)
Bathing of Friday is obligatory on everyone who has reached puberty. (Mishkat Al-Masabih)

Whosoever comes for Friday, he should take a bath. Whoso takes a bath, he should try to achieve maximum of purity, oil his hair and use a perfume; if he does not have a perfume, he should borrow it from his wife. (Mishkat Al-Masabih)

Abu Huraira reported the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) saying: None of you must wash in standing water when he is in a state of Junub. And Abu Huraira was asked how it was to be done; he said: It was to be taken out in handfuls. (Sahih Muslim)
